Project Description

The work consists of removing an existing steel and concrete structure and constructing the Sacramento River (Antlers) Bridge, a five span cast-in-place prestressed segmental box girder bridge approximately 592 meters long and 31.81 meters wide. In addition, a 0.4-mile section of Interstate 5 south of the bridge will be realigned due to a high accident rate. Traffic will remain on the existing bridge during construction of a new bridge on a parallel alignment.

Antlers Bridge is a key element of the Interstate 5 corridor, located in an area where detours can cause considerable delays. The purpose of the Antlers Bridge Replacement is to provide a new highway crossing at the Sacramento River arm of Shasta Lake and to reduce the accident rate on the section of Interstate 5 immediately south of the bridge.
