Project Description

This project included the rehabilitation of the Harlem River Lift Bridge, which carries the Metro North Railroad tracks over the Harlem River between the boroughs of the Bronx and Manhattan in New York City. The work involved the demolition and replacement of two circuit breaker houses, all associated cabling and power distribution equipment; the replacement of the bridge lift control system hardware and software; replacement of the eight main drive motors; the replacement of the main and auxiliary wire rope systems; and the installation of an automatic lubricating system for the wire ropes. Seven hundred commuter trains a day pass over the bridge.
