Project Description

Generously funded by a grant from Warren and Katharine Schlinger, this chemistry and chemical engineering research laboratory building consists of three stories above grade and one level below grade. The basement level houses the main building mechanical, electrical and plumbing utility areas and laboratory space. The three floors above grade consist primarily of research labs, support spaces, and ancillary conference and faculty offices. The first floor also includes a large conference room, building entrances, exterior courtyard and service dock. The facility was constructed along the north side of San Pasqual Mall, between the Beckman Behavioral Biology Building on the east and the Arthur Amos Noyes Laboratory on the west.

Designed for maximum flexibility and safety, the project achieved LEED Gold NC.
