Project Description
Unveiling a five-year masterplan, the Pechanga Band of Luiseno Indians' first project was to build a permanent 989,179-square-foot hotel-casino and conference center that includes a 13-story, 522-room hotel tower, an 88,000-square-foot casino, 40,000 square feet of convention space, seven restaurants, a 1,200-seat theater-style showroom, retail space, a bingo hall, pool and spa facilities, and a central plant. The hotel tower is clad in concrete panels to simulate large stone blocks. The interior theming makes use of many natural materials including stone and wood, reflecting the surrounding landscape as well as many of the important elements of the Tribe's history. The resort's interior is dominated by a geometric motif of oblique angles. Incorporated into the design are abstractions of tree and plant forms sacred to the Tribe. To blend in with the Southern California landscape, the exterior skin of the building is painted in a warm color scheme of light gold, beige and brown coupled with patterns indicative of the Pechanga Tribe.
