Project Description
This museum facility joined to the existing structure built in 1885 via a cantilevered bridge. The Crocker Art Museum Expansion more than tripled the museum’s size and quadrupled its temporary exhibition space. The facility includes several spacious art galleries equipped with skylights and solid wood flooring, a 267-seat auditorium, administrative offices, conference rooms, museum store, catering kitchen and café, art and sculpture storage facilities, two-story atrium reception area with black terrazzo flooring, courtyard with water feature, and a central utility plant that serves both new and existing facilities. Also included was the demolition of the existing Herold Wing building; historic, structural and seismic upgrades to the existing Crocker Art Museum facility; and several sitework improvements including the refurbishment of historic site lighting. The gallery building is a California Historical Landmark and listed in the National Register of Historic Places.
