Project Description
This 135,000-square-foot facility originally included fixed seating for approximately 4,200 visitors. The arena hosts basketball and volleyball games as well as concerts, conferences, and other arena-style events. Features include multiple locker rooms, concession stands, hospitality/club areas, press workroom, lobby, team offices, and support areas. The gem-shaped design entails numerous leaning walls, none of which are plumb. To ensure everything came together seamlessly, BIM and clash detection software played a significant role on the project, especially for the mechanical, electrical, plumbing and structural portions of the project.
As an outdoor extension of the facility, Tutor Perini and the architectural team worked on an outside grass-covered Event Quad. This area was designed for numerous activities from soccer to concerts.
Tutor Perini later provided services for the arena expansion. The seating was increased to 7,100 by adding an interior structural steel seating mezzanine and additional seating rows to the main section. To handle the additional occupancy, men’s and women’s restroom facilities were also constructed.
