Project Description

New York City’s Madison Square Garden is one of the world’s most recognizable sports and entertainment venues. WDF’s HVAC division conducted its renovation while the venue was still in operation, allowing for uninterrupted service of its high-profile events. The renewal of the HVAC systems updated and expanded upon the chill water, hot water, and condenser water systems and also included the installation of a ConEdison steam system. Major equipment, such as AHUs, RTUs, chillers, cooling towers, steam PRV stations, and heat exchangers, were installed to serve the MSG Arena Bowl and MSG Theatre. WDF also facilitated the expansion of the brine system used to chill the ice surface for NHL events.

Five Star performed surveying and engineering during the preconstruction phase. When the design was completed and the project was awarded, Five Star was awarded the core and shell work for the entire project. This work included all service equipment and all associated conduit, bus ducts and equipment for the both normal and emergency power distribution systems. In addition, Five Star was responsible for all of the power and lighting in the  lobby, concourses and back-of-house areas.
