Frontier-Kemper Constructors completed the design and construction of one dual compartment, concrete-lined, 30-foot diameter shaft and one dual compartment, over/under slope for Gibson County Coal's Gibson South Mine. The shaft was excavated using conventional shaft sinking methods, while a continuous miner was used to excavate the slope. The project was completed in March 2014.

To complete the turn-key package, FKC-Lake Shore provided design-build-install services for a 20-ton service hoist, 5-man auxiliary hoist, and 80-ton slope hoisting system complete with headframe, cages, counterweight, brakeman car, ropes, and attachments.
