Project Description

The ten story, 1,200,000-square-foot Retail Podium Core and Shell consists of large structural steel framing, concrete on metal decking, masonry, metal framing, metal and glass exterior enclosure and all the interior mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire sprinkler infrastructure. The steel mechanical over build on top of the building houses the cogeneration facility. The podium will be connected to two office towers, 10 Hudson Yards (Tower C) and 30 Hudson Yards (Tower A). The Retail Podium is supported on the Platform structure, which contains transfer structural systems to clear the Long Island Rail Road rail yards below, as well as existing utilities and equipment and LIRR Facilities.

The World Trade Center Retail Complex combines diverse retail, community, and cultural space in one landmark setting. Distributed throughout Tower 1, Tower 2, Tower 3, Tower 4, and the Oculus are various storefronts, restaurants, showrooms, and event spaces. WDF has installed the plumbing which includes sanitary storm water piping, fixtures, and pump systems for all stores, and drinking fountains and toilet rooms in the buildings’ shared space. The HVAC work included the heating and chilled water piping that led to each store throughout the site, spanning 365,000 square feet of space.
